PTRI Intervention

As part of its continual upgrading program, the company sought the assistance of a government agency to reinforce its knowledge on textile materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control evaluation. Through a PTRI publication, the company learned of the institute’s services.  In July 1996, 11 of its staff members attended a three-day course on Fabric Inspection and Quality Control where they learned the different forms of inspection, inspection checkpoints, fabric defects, and the common tests for evaluating quality of fabrics and garments.  Two months later, they requested a seminar/workshop on Tie-Dyeing Technology, which deepened their understanding on processes involved in the production of tie-dyed textile products.  The processes included fabric pretreatment such as scouring and bleaching, tying, binding, methods of pleating, and knotting to create various designs and actual dyeing.  Equipped with the technology, the company started producing its own tie-dyed products instead of subcontracting.

From then on, Pidro has become one of PTRI’s active clients on fabric evaluation, dyeing formulation, material sourcing, and other production-related needs.
