Natural Dye TBI now operational
Photo Release, December 7, 2006

A project on "Establishment of a Natural Dyeing and Printing Facility through a Technology Adoption and Business Incubation (TBI) arrangement" is in operation at the Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) premises in Bicutan, Taguig City.

This natural dyeing facility is being run by SOUMAK COLLECTION an enterprise engaged in the manufacture and sale of home accessories and is now crafting fabrics into shirts and bed linens using all natural materials.

A contract was recently forged through a Memorandum of Agreement between the PTRI and SOUMAK whereby the TBI project will operate for two years. It involves two phases, with technology transfer training activities on the extraction and application of natural dyes to take up the first phase. The second phase will take the setting up and operation of the facility.

PTRI has allocated a 40-sq. meter space at its Natural Fiber Pilot Plant Extension building for facilities and dyeing activities for the said TBI project.
