HABI THE PHILIPPINE TEXTILE COUNCIL
HABI The Philippine Textile Council
Narda's Weaving lives on! Lucia Capuyan-Catanes, the late Narda Capuyan's daughter, carries on the Narda's tradition of fine ikat but this time, Lucia is working in cotton and natural dyes. She's also experimenting with cotton blended with abaca. The items in Pure Cotton are colored with natural and chemical dyes while Cotton-abaca has the look and feel of linen. Lucia also revives leno weaving (gauze weave) where two warp yarns are twisted around the weft yarns to provide a strong yet sheer fabric. Cotton and cotton-abaca blend were used to re-invent this old Narda's favorite. For clothes designers and makers, Leno weaves will be available as yardage and as apparel during the bazaar.
We're excited to see Narda's collection and her daughters collection? Please catch them at the Likhang Habi Fair 2016.
