The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) is spearheading the revitalization of silk cocoon production in Bukidnon. This move involves six new sericulture farmers from Quezon, Kalilangan, and Talakag who have partnered with DOST-PTRI through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). This collaboration aims to bring back the region as the leading in the Philippine silk industry.

The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) recently sat down with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Silk Research Development Institute (DMMMSU-SRDI) to talk about the future of the country’s silk industry. The meeting was part of a bigger plan to improve and update the Philippine Silk Roadmap—a guide to help the country produce its own high-quality silk and build a stronger local industry.

41 Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship specializing in Apparel and Fashion students and 3 faculty members from Benguet State University (BSU) - La Trinidad Campus took part in an educational tour at the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI). The students were interested in learning more about the textile industry and exploring opportunities for internships and research partnerships with the DOST-PTRI's Textile Academy.

111 Grade 10 students from the Philippine Science High School (Pisay) – Ilocos Region Campus, along with 10 faculty members, toured the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) on April 10, 2024. The educational tour aimed to introduce the students to real-world applications of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to help guide their choice of specialization for senior high school.
